Sea cabbage, with its Latin name Brassica oleracea, belongs to a diverse family of cruciferous vegetables. This family includes esteemed members like broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts, all sharing a common lineage. By exploring the wild counterpart of these cultivated varieties, we connect with the rich heritage and evolution of these plants throughout history. It grows in coastal regions, near or even on beaches, preferring sandy habitats to stoney, unlike it’s close relative, Sea Kale. Bursting with vitamins C, K, and A, as well as minerals like calcium and potassium, it contributes to overall health and vitality. Additionally, sea cabbage is a good source of dietary fibre, promoting digestive health and satiety.
